Quick overview of highlights

 

Day 1 – Lima - Enjoy our guided tour of the city

 

Day 2 -  Lima – Guides take you to museums and folk art collections to see ancient ceramics and Andean gold and sliver artifacts.

Lunch at Café del Museo.

 

Day 3 - Lima to Cusco – a guided tour of Cusco, the Sun Temple, 17th Century Baroque Cathedral, the Cusco School of Art, and the Inca Museum. Relax and enjoy our signature Cultural Evening of Immersion – delicious Peruvian dinner, presentation, relaxing and talking with the guides and

each other.

 

Day 4 - Visit Cusco’s vibrant Mercardo Central Market then the sacred Incan site Sacsayhuaman, still home to the Sun Festival, and Kenko, a mysterious religious site carved in stone. Enjoy lunch at the well-known Pachapapa Restaurant and participate in a late day shaman ceremony.

 

Day 5- Sightsee in Ollantaytambo, an Incan town, with its temple-fortress and village. We’ll drive to Chinchero seeing spectacular 18,000 ft. mountains. Enjoy a Pitumarca private weaving demonstration at Hacienda at San Salvador. Dinner includes a cooking demonstration.

 

Day 6 –Enjoy the spectacular train ride to Machu Picchu, the jewel of Incan architecture. Lunch at the top at the Sanctuary. Our guides show you the way and provide their expert knowledge. Begin your two-night stay at the luxurious Inkaterra Pueblo Hotel at Machu Picchu, with its "ultimate cloud forest setting" in 12 secluded acres. With tea-time, nature tours, a spa and sauna, and delectable cuisine.

 

Day 7 - A day to explore Machu Picchu with our highly experienced guides and relax at the Pueblo Hotel in the evening.

 

Day 8 -  Machu Picchu, stroll the orchid gardens, lunch at the luxurious Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel restaurant. Visit the Seminario Pottery Workshop. Train to Cuzco.

 

Day 9 – We drive to Puno on our way to Late Titicaca, stopping to see the enchanting chapel of Andahuaylillas filled with famous paintings in golden frames and Pikillacta built by the Wari culture in 1100 C.E., plus Raqchi, an indigenous hub of pottery and textiles.

 

Day 10 – From Lake Titicaca, we travel by boat to the Taquile where we’ll be hosted by local families for one night. On the way, we’ll visit an indigenous community of Uros Indians who live on an island of reeds.

 

Day 11- Back by boat to Puno, we’ll visit a museum and attend a mask-making workshop. Then cross over the Andes into Colca Canyon, one of the world’s deepest gorges.

 

Day 12 - Touring Colca Canyon with its spectacular views, condors and indigenous peoples in their beautiful cultural clothing

 

Day 13 - Colca to Arequipa, the “white city” with some of the most outstanding colonial architecture in Peru. Lunch at Chicha. Visit a textile museum and Alpaca outlet (great shopping!)

 

Day 14 – In Arequipa, visit the Santa Catalina Convent and the famous frozen Juanita mummy. Enjoy the Farewell lunch – then our guides take you to the airport to fly to Lima and home.

 

Free time, too

During this 14-day tour, you'll also have some free time to hike, explore on your own, and shop. Our bi-lingual Peruvian guides can steer you to the safest and best places for these activities.

 

Relaxing social time

This tour includes our signature "Cultural Immersion Evening," featuring a dinner of exquisite Peruvian cuisine, an Inca weaving demonstration, along with time to relax and ask follow-up questions of your guide and Peruvian cultural experts. You’ll be able to relax and get to know each other plus learn more about Peruvian culture in a relaxing setting.
